On behalf of the members of the Georgia State Society, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Georgia State Society web site. The state of Georgia is proud of the role it played in securing American independence in 1776. Every corner of this state, every town, however large or small, has some historical significance; everywhere you may look there is an historic site or landmark to explore. Several signers of the Declaration of Independence called Georgia home; the Georgia State Society is most proud of "Meadow Garden," home of George Walton, the youngest to sign the Declaration.
Georgia Daughters are proud of their Revolutionary heritage and put in thousands of hours a year in preservation activities and in educating visitors and Georgia youth. Perhaps you have a Revolutionary ancestor in your family as well! The Georgia State Society gladly welcomes inquiries about Society membership.

The State Regent will raise funds to aid the DAR Schools with the following projects: the sponsorship of a new classroom at Kate Duncan Smith; continued support of the Talmadge Gymnasium at Tamassee; and awarding the GSS DAR Student Teaching Award at Berry College. Funds will also be raised for Meadow Garden, through education and events with the membership and general public. In addition, a new wrought iron security fence will be installed around the property.
The Georgia State Society is proud to own and maintain Meadow Garden, an historic house museum in the heart of downtown Augusta. Meadow Garden was the home of George Walton, one of the youngest signers of the Declaration of Indepen-dence. Tours are available Monday-Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Saturdays by appointment.
